Two-bedroomed Villa Avalon II is one of a trio of luxury properties on the Villa Avalon estate designed by award-winning Bali architect, Popo Danes. Each villa can be rented independently of the others and all have their own private pools and are looked after by an efficient and friendly ten-strong staff (including a competent chef), who work discreetly in the background to provide stellar service from morning until night. When rented as a whole, the Villa Avalon estate offers seven spacious bedrooms and makes a paradisical wedding venue.
Villa Avalon II’s traditional Balinese entrance opens onto a delightfully private walled garden, where a living and dining pavilion (with kitchenette) formed from the heart of a historic Javanese teakwood joglo looks out onto a sun terrace and 7-metre pool. Comfortable chairs invite lazy afternoon siestas and a dining table seats six.
To one side of the living and dining pavilion are the villa’s two bedrooms. The high vaulted ceiling of the sleeping pavilion give both rooms – one furnished with a king-size bed, the other a queen – a theatrical sense of space, heightened by handsome furnishings and arresting Balinese paintings. Granite basins and walk-in rain showers add glamour to the ensuite bathrooms and there’s generous wardrobe space in the dressing areas. Both bedrooms open onto a shared veranda
It’s rare to find such a well-established villa in such a quiet spot, only 50m from the beach and yet just a few minutes’ drive from downtown Seminyak. Just beyond the entrance to Villa Avalon II is La Laguna – a prize spot for sunset cocktails, and a short stroll along the sand brings you to Mozaic and Potato Head beach clubs and the W Hotel.
